Bondings and Veneers
Bondings (dental cosmetic resins) or veneers may be a nice option for patients seeking to improve their smile. Bondings are tooth colored composite resin materials that are bonded to the teeth to mask discolorations, close gaps between teeth or improve the shape or shade of teeth. These sometimes require removal of some tooth structure to provide space for the filling material or to remove discolorations that may show through.
Similarly, tooth structure often has to be removed to make space for veneers. Veneers are porcelain coverings that are cemented onto the prepared teeth to provide esthetic options for improving one’s smile. While bondings often discolor over time and frequently require maintenance, veneers are a more long-term option with less maintenance.
